Did you know that if you didn't have high blood pressure before, you may now? Not long ago the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology agreed on new guidelines listing 130/80 as the new high. Under these new high blood pressure guidelines, almost half of American adults have high blood pressure (hypertension). So now, instead of indicating prehypertension (a category that has been eliminated) a blood pressure reading of 130-139 or 80-89 is considered high.
