In the first study, which is a meta-analysis, it was concluded that ALA supplementation among patients with metabolic diseases significantly decreased fasting glucose. In the second study, it was found that oral treatment with thioctic acid (another name for ALA) improved symptoms of polyneuropathy without causing serious adverse events. A gluten free diet can be a super effective way to help your liver recover. Gluten induced damage can lead to an inflammatory toxic build up that has a systemic affect on other tissues and organs. This in turn can lead to additional health issues. One of the most effective ways to overcome fatty liver, liver damage, or autoimmune hepatitis is to go on the No Grain No Pain gluten free diet. The three together play a major role in methylation processes, and help to metabolize a toxic compound called homocysteine. A deficiency of vitamin B12, folate, and vitamin B6 can contribute to fatigue, depression, anemia, heart disease, neuropathy, slow healing, and a reduced ability to detoxify. Avoiding Fish for 5 Years Before Pregnancy - YouTube
The problem with fish advisories that tell pregnant women to cut down on fish is that it may be too late for certain persistent pollutants. Subscribe to NutritionFacts.org’s free newsletter to receive our B12 infographic that covers the latest research takeaways and Dr. Greger’s updated recommendations: https://nutritionfacts.org/subscribe/ In my previous video on this topic, How Long to Detox from Fish Before Pregnancy (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-long-to-detox-from-fish-before-pregnancy), I mentioned a study that suggests detoxing from fish for one year to see mercury levels decrease, but other pollutants take longer to leave our system. For optimum brain development consider a pollutant-free source of omega 3 fatty acids: Should Vegan Women Supplement with DHA during Pregnancy? (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/should-vegan-women-supplement-with-dha-during-pregnancy/). There are also non-pollutant reasons may want to avoid excessive amounts of any animal protein. Vegans adhere to nutrition recommendations in varying degrees, according to a new Finnish study. Some vegans who participated in a new study followed a balanced diet, while others had dietary deficiencies. Typical deficiencies were an unbalanced use of protein sources, a low intake of berries, fruits and nuts, as well as failure to use nutrient fortified food products. The majority, however, used vitamin B12 and D supplements and calcium-fortified drinks as recommended.

Click here to subscribe - https://www.glutenfreesociety.org/wxrn My favorite calcium supplement - https://www.glutenfreesociety.org/shop/supplements/general-health/ultra-calmag-gluten-free/ What causes calcium deficiency? The simple answer is lack of consumption in the diet, but there are other causes for low calcium. A deficiency of calcium can be caused by these 5 things: 1. Highly refined sugar and sodium based diet 2. High level of caffeine through coffee, tea, and energy drinks 3. Alcohol 4. Anti-acids 5.Avoidance of sunshine (vitamin D3 deficiency) leads to calcium malabsorption. Vitamin D is necessary to help the intestines absorb calcium from your food. Without vitamin D, low calcium is predictable. Others causes or risk factors for poor or low calcium include inflammatory bowel issues, chronic IBS (diarrhea), growing children (need calcium for bone formation).
